True, it didn't go down - it just ruined ppl's games, saves, achievements, etc if they turned their ps3's on while that bug was in their system :P

and double lol @ UbiDudz. Of course they are going to say something along those lines. and of course most sensible ppl can tell it for the load of BS that it is. Cracked versions "incomplete".. actually that is accurate.. they are missing the retarded DRM.. lolz

Hey, if it`s one click away and it`s free, then why not? It`s not like storming into bank with guns blazing, is it? And that mystical "uuu.. it`s gonna get you some day" stuff, you can shove that up your back. If you are concerned so much about "poor developers" who have actually already been paid by contract, then go ahead.. pay. Pay to poor government it`s taxes, pay to the publisher whatever they charge final product, etc.. Noone is going to stop you from being morally over-concerned. Again, be my guest, wiseass.

1. I'm against piracy.
2. I'm against DRMs or any other restrictions on what I do with something I purchase.

These arguments (publisher and purchaser sides) are very old. I can remember back in the 80s when book publishers tried to prevent used books from being resold or given away. My response is to NOT buy from publishers whose DRMs I dislike. I agree with Stardock's Gamers' Rights - install it on as many pcs as you wish to.

Nothing new nothing special, Although I never though pr such acted like Saint Row 2? Anyone completed the game? Quite amusing if they works such way. Fake Triple AAA title, And a Non-Talent Wealthy of Emptyness.

I blame EA for that. MMOs as well; all of these beta releases have shown companies that you can release an unfinished product and at least make some money off of it. Release now patch later has become the predominate mentality in PC game production. With the older-gen consoles, if there was a bug in the game, it stayed in the game.

I actually expect newer console games to follow PCs in terms of beta release, patch later since both the PS3 and the 360 have an internet connection and HD.

It always bothered me how the software market especially gaming is at the level where games cost so much. Compared to the movie industry. Thousands of people spend years and many million to make a top rated movie and they have no clue how well it will perform. So how come a game costs 4x more? MW2 made a billion dollars and spent about $100m, most of which was marketing to do it. How many people work for Infinity Ward? How many people worked for ANet?

I guess software has a longer use than a movie and is more value to the user, but I think it is way overpriced in general for games and ridiculously overpriced for anything by Microsoft, Adobe, etc. Another reason I feel this way? - Open Source manages to do quite well without $$$$ and I recommend OSS solutions at work and to customers and staff.

I know some people might use it as an excuse to pirate software but I would never condone that because you're stealing someone's food out of their mouth or mortgage payment.

Also DRM is an absolute joke and always has been. It only punishes people who honestly pay (by inconveniencing the user) while pirates get the 0-day cracked version. But you might understand that some manager somewhere has to explain to investors what they are doing to solve the problem of piracy - to cover their ass and keep their job.

Also I think DRM is akin to the lock on your front door - a thief can trivially break it but you still want to keep your nosy neighbour out right?

Your comparision simply fails. When someone steals your car you have actually lost something of value. When someone uses a program without buying it they've only not bought it. There's no actual loss of value, or money, especially since they probably wouldn't have bought it even if they couldn't get it for free.

PC's are growing exponentially in their processing power, feeding all that power requires levels of detail in design that become increasingly difficult to create and require increasing numbers of people creating it. Just look at GW's credits.

A $50 game may last for hundreds of hours of entertainment, while a $10 movie is good for maybe 2 or 3 hours. More people buy movies (through dvd, filmtheatre, tv ...) more frequently, making a single purchase cheaper.

It's pretty simple to me. I know it's hard to understand that virtual goods have value.

What about this: you hack Blizzard system, and you play WoW for 12 months for free. Where's the harm?! You just "don't pay", you get the service you were supposed to pay for... Oh, right, it's harder to hack a powerful server with so much security as Blizzard. And usually you get cracks ready, from someone who already did the hard part of the job.

Paid. And I'm not advocating Ubisoft's DRM. I'm against DRM and I have yet to pay for a game with DRM (except Borderlands, since I bought it BEFORE they introduced DRM - I pirated the DLC instead of buying it...). Frankly, I'm waiting till they crack the game or Ubisoft releases a patch to remove the DRM. Because by putting that DRM in, they lost the $50 from me. I would've bought the game, I seriously would. I loved AC1, AC2 is apparently better, but I refuse to get backf***ed by developers who treat me as a potential thief.

But hey, instead of paying them, I can buy some other game.

That was caused by a bug in older PS3s, not by an issue with the PSN. Don't fault a service for something it didn't do.

This is just Ubisoft's way of saying. Want to play our game? Buy a GAMECONSOLE! The game manufacturers are fedup with PC gamers. And lets be honest about it; piracy did ruin things for legit gamers. PC games dont turn a fraction of the profit console games do due to all the piracy involved. MMO's are the only type of games nowadays that rely om PC gamers. The future is piracy proof console games. Get used to it.

For the record, Silent Hunter along /w the DLC is available through the usual pirate corridors. As well as DLC for every Bioware, and Bethesda Softworks games released recently.

The only thing pirated copies of games are missing is the epic installation process. It took me 4 hours to get my legit copy of Batman: Arkham Asylum running, and even that required me to download a spanish Games for Windows: LIVE hack to get the control scheme functional.

What geohot has done to the PS3 merely paves the way for potential piracy down the road. There are still a lot of things to work out, and get around, before you'll be able to pop a burned blu-ray into your PS3 and play Demon's Souls off of it.

I miss the good old days where you bought a PC game installed it then played. It's tragic that companies claim piracy is killing PC gaming and then have so much sh*t to combat piracy on their games now that people choose to go for the cracked pirate versions instead.

Even funnier thing? Battlefield Bad Company 2 - the only DRM it has is a CD-Key checker during installation and the same CD-Key check when you make an online account - sells better than Assassin's Creed 2.

Imagine how well it would sell without any DRM. I know I would buy it. Now I will just wait for the crack/patch to remove DRM.
